ISLAMABAD: The cabinet met here on Wednesday and accorded an approval to amendment to the Army Act.
The development came in the light of the Supreme Court of Pakistan orders given in the detailed verdict.
Earlier, PM Imran chaired the emergency cabinet meeting.
On Dec 16 last year, the SC had directed the government to make legislation within six months.
The prime minister has no constitutional right to give the COAS extension in his tenure, said the detailed verdict of the Supreme Court of Pakistan in the Army Chief Gen Bajwa’s extension case.
The detailed judgement comprising 39 pages was penned by Justice Mansoor Ali Shah.
The three-year extension given to the COAS has no legal status, the verdict had said.
