Separatists announced Manipur govt in exile in UK

LONDON: India’s former Manipur state has announced independence as two dissident leaders of state launched Manipur government in exile here.

The announcement was made during a press conference.

Yamben Biren, claiming to be the “Chief Minister of Manipur State Council” and Narengbam Samarjit, claiming to be the “Minister of External Affairs and Defence of Manipur State Council” said they were making an announcement on behalf of Maharaja of Manipur Leishemba Sanajaoba.

The Indian High Commission in London has not so far offered any comment on the development.

The two leaders of the Manipur government in exile showed documents of their political asylum in the UK.
