NEW DELHI: India’s upper house has approved a bill putting an end to Muslim practice of instant divorce.

Earlier, the country’s top court had ruled two years ago that it violates the constitutional rights of Muslim women living in India.

India’s Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has termed the approval of the bill as empowerment of women.
