In occupied Kashmir, Indian police on Monday night raided the residence of a senior journalist in Srinagar and arrested him.
The 62-year-old Ghulam Jeelani Qadri, 62, who is Printer and Publisher of Daily Aafaq, Urdu daily newspaper, was arrested during a house raid from his residence in Srinagar in an almost three decades old fake case.
His family said, a police party from Shaheed Gunj police station arrived at the residence of Ghulam Jeelani Qadri and took him to the police station.
Police told the family that he was arrested in 1992 case registered against him and eight other journalists when he was running now defunct local news agency Jammu and Kashmir News (JAK).
He has been shown absconding since then in the case. Three of the journalists against whom case has been registered have passed away, police added.
Meanwhile, Indian forces detained three persons including two students in south Kashmir’s Tral township.
The detainees were identified as post graduate student, Zahoor Ahmad Sheikh (25), under graduate student, Aaqib Ahmad Malik (17) and Bashir Ahmad Malik (50) residents of Paznoo. All three were lodged to police station, Tral.
