Sopore shuts on 2nd successive day to mourn killing of youth

In occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown is being observed in Sopore town and its adjoining areas in Baramulla district for the second consecutive day, today, against the killing of a youth by Indian troops.

The troops martyred the youth, Ishfaq Ahmed Sofi, during a cordon and search operation in Amshipora area of Shopian, yesterday. The martyred belonged to Model Town area of Sopore.

All shops and other business establishments are closed while a very thin movement of traffic is being witnessed on the roads in Sopore town.

Meanwhile, fearing students’ protests against the killing of the youth, the occupation authorities ordered the closure of educational institutes in Sopore, today. Officials said the class-work in Government Degree College, Government Boys Higher Secondary School and Government Girls Higher Secondary School shall remain suspended, today.
