KARACHI: Rangers on Friday raided  Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) headquarters Nine-Zero in Azizabad and took Rabita Committee incharge Kaiful Warah and committee member Qamar Mansoor into custody.

Rangers sealed all the roads leading to MQM headquarters before raiding the office and Khursheed Begum Memorial Hall in the raid conducted in wee hours of Friday.

The area between Mukka Chowk to Madni Masjid was heavily manned by paratroopers. All the people who were sitting on roads, were forced to stand by wall.

The MQM leaders were shifted to an undisclosed location for questioning.

The Rangers, in a statement released after the raid, said that Mansoor and Warah had been arrested for “arranging and facilitating hate speeches against the peace of Karachi.”

It must be noted that Rangers in a similar raid on March 11, claimed to have arrested a number of criminals besided confiscating a large amount of firearms.
