Indian policemen in civvies tried to kill a tailor, Riaz Ahmed Beig, in Budgam when he was returning home from his shop in Indian occupied Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, a neighbour of Riaz Ahmed Beig and eyewitness told media men that four police personnel in civvies intercepted Riaz and began questioning him which was followed by a verbal brawl.
Locals said that the policemen caught hold of the tailor and tried to lynch him by his scissor. They said that Riaz raised alarm and people came out of their homes and caught hold of one of the cops identified as constable Muhammad Jabbar Khan.
Eyewitnesses said that the locals beat up the constable while his three associates managed to escape. They said that announcements were also made on loudspeakers and people came out and staged protests against the incident.
The locals said that the Indian police personnel were deliberately trying to instill fear among the people by venturing out in civvies for the whole day and in the late hours as well.
