Rangers arrest four including presiding officer, for bogus voting in NA-246 by-election

KARACHI: Rangers on Thursday (today) afternoon arrested four persons including presiding officer in different polling stations of NA-246 during polling on by-election.

According to Rangers sources assistant presiding officer deputed on polling station number 159 at Zubaida school in Sharifabad  and another man were arrested from Liaqutabad after found guilty of bogus voting.

Both were awarded with three months jail and 5000 rupees fine as Rangers officer enjoys power of civil magistrate.

Earlier Rangers arrested a presiding officer Syed Majid Ali and another man Rehan Ahmed from Delhi school polling station in the same charges.

The Rangers officer who has authority of civil magistrate grade one powers, on the spot issued punishment of arrest for three months and 5,000 rupees fine for Majid Ali and other man Rehan Ahmed was sentenced to  six month jail and 5,000 rupees fine.

Election Commission of Pakistan ahead of by-election has given powers of civil magistrate to Rangers to ensure fair and transparent elections.
