KARACHI: A blaze engulfed several shops in Karachi’s Bahadurabad neighbourhood on Thursday evening, firefighting officials said.

The blaze erupted inside a shop at the ground floor of a six-storey residential building in Bahadurabad, which soon spread to other shops.

Eight fire tenders have been busy dousing the blaze that is still raging.

It has been learnt that several people, including women and children, are present inside the building.

Rangers personnel have also been assisting firefighters in rescue operation.

A snorkel deployed at the site is also helping in rescuing trapped resident.

Most of the people trapped inside the building have been rescued, however, a few are still present on the rooftop.
