Girl’s dead body recovered from canal

FAISALABAD: A young girl’s dead body was recovered from a canal in the area of Dijkot police station after four days of her abduction.

Police spokesman said here Thursday that abducted Abida, daughter of  Nadeem Ahmad, resident of Sherazi Park mohallah Islampura Jaranwala, was student of Govt College University Faisalabad (GCUF). She went to university on March 25 but did not return.

The girl’s father submitted a complaint to City Police Officer (CPO) Faisalabad Athar Ismaeel and on CPO’s direction, Gulberg police registered a case and started investigation.

However, after four days of abduction some passerby witnessed a human corpse floating on surface of canal in Rakh Branch Canal near Dijkot and informed the police.

The area police fished out the corpse which was identified as Abida daughter of Nadeem Ahmad. The deceased was handed over to her parents  after postmortem.

The parents of the victim alleged that she was killed after rape and in this incident her class or university fellows might be involved. However, the police was investigating the incident, the spokesman added.
