A Palestinian man died a few hours after he was arrested by Israeli forces in the West Bank city of Jericho, Palestinian Prisoners Club (PPC) said Thursday, Xinhua reported.

The family of Yasin Omar Saradeeh, 33, was informed by Israeli authorities of his death from “convulsions and suffocation resulted from tear gas,” said PPC in a press statement.

According to witnesses, the Israeli forces threw tear gas grenades at Palestinian houses during an earlier raid into the neighbourhood of Jericho where Saradeeh and his family lived.

Saradeeh’s family told reporters that the man has been beaten roughly by Israeli solders during his arrest and that he inhaled a lot of tear gas, noting that he didn’t suffer form any illnesses previously.

The PPC affirmed that the Israeli authorities accepted a Palestinian request to include a Palestinian forensic physician in the autopsy process.
