Tough competition starts at NA-246 by-elections in Karachi

KARACHI:  Time has arrived for much awaited day for polling on NA-246  by-election in Karachi as all the preparations and security arrangements have been completed and polling time has started.

Tough competition is expected as many as 12 candidates are contesting the elections the toughest will be among three political parties candidates which include Rashid Nasim from Jamaat Islami (JI), Imran Ismail of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Kunwar Naveed from Muttahida Qaumi Movement.

As many as 213 polling stations have been established for the by-election and on each polling station CCTV cameras have been installed.

Around 3,57,781 are registered voters in the constituency, of whom 1,96, 181 are men voters and remaining  1,61, 594  voters are women.

Central control has been established in Deputy Commissioner (DC) office.

To ensure peaceful elections Rangers have been deployed inside and outside of every polling stations. Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has given Rangers civil magistrate grade one authority.

The polling will continued without any break from 8 am morning  to 5 pm evening.
