ISLAMABAD: The Nato military coalition led by the US in Afghanistan has shown willingness to import supplies through the Gwadar Port.

This was disclosed by Ports and Shipping Minister Hasil Bizenjo in an interview with Voice of America here on Wednesday.

Bizenjo said that during his recent meeting with the Nato officials the military coalition had expressed interest in importing its vital supplies through the Gwadar Port.

The Nato representatives were of the view that the Gwadar route was much shorter and economical as compared to the one being used currently to transport shipments.

Currently, the US-led military coalition has been importing supplies through the Karachi Port. The shipments take almost a week time to reach Afghanistan via Torkham border from Pakistan.

The federal minister said, “We are working on it as the US-led military coalition was interested”.
