No law could repugnant to Holy Quran, Sunnah in Pakistan: Liaquat Baloch

Acting chief of the Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Liaquat Baloch, has said that the salvation of the Ummah as also the solution for all its problems lay in holding fast to the path of Allah and total obedience of the holy prophet (PBUH). He was addressing an Iftar dinner at Karachi on Thursday evening.

Liaquat Baloch said that under the constitution of the country, no law of the country could be repugnant to the Holy Quran and the Sunnah but practically, all institutions of the state and the rulers were violating the divine injunctions.

He said that the enemy had launched an attack on the country’s solidarity while corrupt elite was in power. He said that press conferences were being held against the NAB for issuing the list of corruption cases. However, he said, that accountability must be above board and civilian rulers, judges or generals should not be spared.

The JI acting chief said that the Sindh government had taken a belated decision to extend the powers granted to the Rangers but it was essential that indiscriminate action be continued against the criminals.

He welcomed Kabul-Taliban talks but added that peace could be restored in Pakistan only after the US withdrew from the region.
