Hurriyat leaders and organizations of Indian occupied Kashmir have strongly condemned the killing of a woman by Indian troops in Handwara area of Kupwara district.

Kashmir Media Reported that the leaders in their statements in Srinagar paid tributes to the victim woman, Misra Begum, and the three youth, martyred by Indian troops during a cordon and search operation in the town on Monday.

The illegally-detained Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), Muhammad Yasin Malik in a message from Srinagar Central Jail said, “Trigger-happy Indian forces have crossed every limit of brutality and oppression in Jammu and Kashmir.” He also denounced the assault on a driver and a youth at Ajas in Bandipora district. Yasin Malik said that Indian forces had no respect for human life or honour. “The impunity provided to these killers has made them savages and they feel no shame while killing innocent people. The entire Kashmir Valley has been turned into a battlefield where Indian occupational forces have let loose an ugly reign of terror,” he added.

The Hurriyat forum led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq while paying tributes to the martyred women and youth said that the troops were killing men, women, elderly and youth in very part of Kashmir for demanding freedom from Indian yoke. It deplored that innocent civilians were becoming soft targets of the Indian forces. “Under a well planned conspiracy and on the basis of military might, New Delhi is resorting to a systematic genocide of Kashmiris,” the statement added.

The Jamaat-e-Islami of occupied Kashmir in its statement said that the way the Indian forces mercilessly killed the innocent woman in Handwara vindicated the real motive of cruel Indian forces in occupied Kashmir.

Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Moment Chairman, Zafar Akbar Butt, while paying tributes to the martyred woman, Misra Begum, said that women had rendered unparalleled sacrifices in the ongoing freedom movement.

Voice of Victims, a human rights defender group, in a statement termed the killing of the woman as the worst example of Indian state terrorism in the occupied territory.

The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir People’s Freedom League, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, in a statement also denounced the brutal killing of woman in Handwara. He also expressed concern over the deteriorating health of illegally detained party leader, Muhammad Ramzan Khan.
