In the midst of the global chaos following the highly provocative decision made by U.S. Protest esident Donald Trump on Jerusalem, attempts to expand the zone of hegemony for Israel are more visible than before.
A recent article published by the English version of the Haaretz daily of Israel was something more than a journalistic or intellectual piece. The summary of a report on an archaeological study conducted by Saudi and French teams in 2014 in the southern regions of Saudi Arabia was mentioned in the article, which aimed to “confirm” the roots of Judaism in Saudi Arabia.
Now that Trump has said that the U.S. will transfer its embassy in Tel Aviv and its announcement to consider Jerusalem to be Israel’s capital, in a clear violation of previous international agreements as well as religious and cultural sensitivities, steps are being taken within the framework of public diplomacy for global public opinion.
Taking into consideration that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is very keen to improve ties between Saudi Arabia and the Jewish state, the Haaretz article tries to discover Judaism’s so-called roots in the heart of Islam’s holy land.
The archaeological study mentioned in the Haaretz report, “Before Islam: When Saudi Arabia was a Jewish Kingdom,” did its best to convince the world that “the discovery of the oldest-known pre-Islamic Arabic writing in Saudi Arabia, from circa 470 CE, evidently caused some consternation, given its Christian and Jewish context.”
“The framework drawn by the archaeological study was something of an embarrassment to some that the French-Saudi expedition was done so quietly,” the report continued, in an obvious move to discredit Muslim sensitivities and even the accuracy of Islamic history.
So, can we question the possibility that Israel wants to hegemonize the Islamic world by arguing the superiority of Jews in all corners of the Muslim world? Starting from even Mecca or Medina? Since that question is more meaningful in the midst of the ongoing Jerusalem chaos, the only alternative for the Muslim world is to be aware of the real intention of the Jewish state.
The way to Mecca and Medina starts from Jerusalem
And in light of the recent steps taken by the Saudi crown prince vis-à-vis Israel, which was directly planned by White House Senior Advisor Jared Kutchner, Trump’s son-in-law who draws the lines of the Trump policies on the Mideast, the Muslim world should take responsibility for the holy cities of Mecca and Medina, as well.
The defense of Jerusalem is at the same time the defense of Mecca and the principles and values of Islam.
