Reports said that some restaurants in Indian city of Aurangabad have been serving customers biryani with dog meat.
A member of the animal welfare board has warned the restaurants involved in this practice.
The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) officials have been informed of the situation.
Mehar Matharani, the member of the animal welfare board, visited the corporation and also met AMC Commissioner D.M. Mungalikar as well as other senior officials regarding the issue.
Mehar then went along with the AMC’s dog squad to monitor capturing of the dogs in the city, the report said.
She alleged that many dog heads were found in Aurangabad and a few had their body parts missing. Some restaurants have biryani with dog meat on their menu and are selling them at a cheap price, she pointed out.
Mehar’s sane advice to stop the practice: Check population of stray dogs.
She wants to revive the animal birth control programme on dogs which AMC discontinued two years back.
