Benoni Zalmi pick squad for Global T20 League

CAPE TOWN: A draft was held here earlier for South Africa’s first T20 League and Benoni Zalmi selected the best players.

Benoni Zalmi Head Coach Graeme Smith, Director Muhammad Akram and Chairman Javed Afridi formed the team after discussions with other team staff.

Benoni Zalmi picked Wahab Riaz, Umar Akmal and Mohammad Nawaz from Pakistan. In addition, they picked Quinton de Kock, Jason Roy, Albie Morkel, Lungi Ngidi, David Wiese, Eddie Leie, Pite van Biljon, Leus du Plooy, Dillon du Preez, Dean Elgar, George Linde, Rivaldo Moonsamy, Calvin Savage, Carmi le Roux and Tshepo Moreki.

At the event, Benoni Zalmi and Peshawar Zalmi Chairman Javed Afridi had the following to say: “The start of the Global T20 League in South Africa is a big step in the world of cricket. Like Peshawar Zalmi, Benoni Zalmi will try its hardest to perform well. Graeme Smith is a good leader; we hope Benoni Zalmi will collect achievements under his coaching like South Africa did under his captaincy.”
