Wicket-keeper cum batsman Sarfraz Ahmed, has been appointed as Pakistan Test team captain by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shahryar Khan during a ceremony held in honor of Pakistan cricket team at PM House.
Sarfraz was the inspirational force behind Pakistan recent victory in the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy. He was named as Pakistan’s Twenty20 International captain following the 2016 ICC World Twenty20 in India, while he was named Pakistan’s ODI Captain on February 9, 2017 after Azhar Ali stepped down.
Addressing to the ceremony, Shahryar hailed the team’s show against the arch-rivals India and went on to say that the neighboring nation was afraid of playing against Pakistan.
“We challenge the Indian cricket team to come and play with us,” he said.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif along other government dignitaries were present on the occasion.
Earlier, speaking at the function, PSL chairman Najam Sethi said that stadiums in Pakistan would soon see the revival of international cricket. Seth informed that Sri Lankan and the West Indian team would soon visit Pakistan.
