Acting Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), Liaquat Baloch, said that back-to-back martial laws caused irrecoverable losses and barricaded ways to enrich democracy in the country. Military coups on July 5, 1977 by General Zia-ul-Haq and martial law of General retd. Pervez Musharraf in October 1999 suspended the Constitution of Pakistan that ended up superiority of law in the country.
Liaquat Baloch was addressing the occasion of Iftaar Dinner to senior journalists, social and political personalities at his residence in Lahore. He said that worst-ever dictatorship was imposed in the country by the personalities claimed high for bringing democracy.
JI Deputy Secretary General Muhammad Asghar, JI Ameer Lahore chapter Mian Maqsood Ahmed, JI Secretary General Punjab Nazeer Ahmed Janjua, Malik Shahid Aslam and various other high-ups were present on the event.
He said that firm efforts were needed by all democratic powers to make effective the accountability system in Pakistan.
Liaquat Baloch said that whole national leadership had decided to commence targeted operation in the metropolitan city Karachi but not by the military. He said that immaculate evidences have emerged regarding Indian funding, training and assassinations that demand effective action against the culprits who destroyed peace in Karachi.
Pakistan has turned into camp of international agencies including CIA and RAW that are playing terror games in the country. He urged national security institutions to take concrete steps against anti-state elements while a time should be specified to achieve targets to end anxiety and confusion of the nation.
JI Acting Ameer demanded on-time organisation of Local Bodies’ election in Sindh and Punjab provinces just like the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). He announced that Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) will efficiently take part in the LB polls to hail faithful and talented leadership present in the society.
