6.5 magnitude earthquake jolts China

BEIJING: 6.5 magnitude earthquake on Friday struck China’s far western region of Xinjiang. The China Earthquake Network Centre said that epicentre of the quake was 131 KM in southeast of Shache.

While US Geological Survey said that 6.1 magnitude earthquake hit china and its epicentre was 164 km in northwest of the city of Hotan. USGS gave the estimated quake depth at 10km.

China is regularly hit by earthquakes, particularly in its southwestern provinces of Sichuan and Yunnan. No causalities were reported yet.
