Tariq Mir’s confessional documents not UK Police property

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Tariq Mir who disclosed alleged links of the party with India during interview with British authorities are not property of London Metropolitan Police, spokesman confirmed to BBC Urdu.

The London Metropolitan Police official Alan Crockford told BBC Urdu via email that after carefully investigating media reports in Pakistan pertaining to Tariq Mir’s confession, the police can confirm no such documents are part of its record.

Documents purported to be property of the London police surfaced on social media on Friday, suggesting that MQM’s Tariq Mir had confessed in an interview that his party had New Delhi’s support and that party chief Altaf Hussain received funding from India.
