Google is working on a remarkable control system that allows users to interact with computers by making very small movements with fingers without touching any keyboards or touchscreens.

Project Soli draws on extremely precise radar technology that can recognize very tiny gestures whether that is pressing thumb and index finger together, twizzling a virtual dial or scrolling on a virtual screen.

GoogleIf you’ve seen Minority Report it looks like an incredibly subtle version of the famous gesture control system. But in this case you only need to make tiny movements with you hands to control the volume of music, the time on your watch or a film.

The radar system has been embedded into a tiny microchip that could be used in a range of devices so that they wouldn’t need to a physical interface like a touchscreen or keyboard.
