LAHORE: The Thursday’s session of Punjab Assembly had its highs and lows on the matter of reference against Chief Minister of Punjab Shehbaz Sharif. Opposition went furious on the issue and chanted slogans against the ruling government of PML-N.
The opposition leader and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) member Mian Mehmood-ur-Rasheed demanded that Shehbaz Sharif should appear in the assembly and answer to allegations against him. He accused Punjab CM of not being honest and complained from Punjab Assembly speaker about why there has been no inquiry on the matter yet. He asked the speaker to pass verdict according to the law. On the other hand, Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah blasted on the opposition while alleging opposition leaders to use the democratic institution for achieving negative goals.
The opposition leaders stood up from their seats and surrounded the speaker’s dice during their protest against Punjab CM. However, the govt officials did not remain silent also as they equally shouted at the opposition. The speaker of the house was unable to control assembly. He gave a warning to opposition to not exceed their protest over the limit. “No one is superior to the law”, he spoke. As soon as the govt officials started the assembly proceedings, opposition pointed out at the quorum and went outside. The protest went on again and regular proceedings were initiated afterward. INP
