92 arrested in crackdown against profiteers, encroachment

PESHAWAR, Mar 7 (APP): District administration arrested 92 persons in crackdown against profiteers and encroachment mafia in different parts of the district.

The arrested profiteers were included nanbais (bakers), butchers, grocers, fish, vegetable & fruit sellers and proprietors of restaurants.

According to details, on the directives of the Deputy Commissioner (DC), Peshawar, the Additional Assistant Commissioner (AAC), Mir Khwas Khan Wazir conducted raids in Bhana Mari and arrested 8 profiteers while AAC Javed Anwar Kamal took into custody 18 profiteers from the suburban localities of Mathra and Machni Gate.

Similarly, AAC Bashir Ahmad arrested 16 persons for making encroachments in different areas on Charsadda Road while AAC Imran Khan with the assistance of Traffic Police conducted anti-encroachment operation and arrested 14 persons from University Road. During the operation, the district administration demolished all encroachments.

Furthermore, AAC Sohail Aziz arrested a person, who was collecting illegal extortion from vehicles at Chamkani staff and shifted him to prison.

Similarly, he also arrested 17 more persons on charges of encroachments and profiteering. The AAC Abdul Nabi arrested 12 profiteers from Faqirabad.
