KIEV: 8 soldiers have been killed and 16 others injured within 24-hours in Ukraine.
Ukrainian military spokesman Andriy Lysenko said that three soldiers were killed by the shelling and five died in a landmine explosion in the Luhansk region. He said that the rebels were using heavy weapons against the army.
Meanwhile, the rebels accused Ukrainian forces of intensifying attacks. They said two of their fighters and a civilian had been killed and seven other people wounded.
