PESHAWAR: Eight miner were killed and 29 others received minor injuries on Saturday as a coal mine collapsed due to blast caused by gas emission in Kurez, Lower Orakzai Agency, Political Authorities told APP.
The rescue team safely rescued 29 miners from the mines whereas operation was underway for the safe recovery of others persons who believed to be still under the debris.
The ISPR authorities informed that more than 100 army and FC troops have continued operation with the help of heavy machinery and medical support.
The injured have been shifted to Kalaya Hospital in Lower Orakzai and DHQ hospital Kohat, where condition of some of the injured was stated to be critical.
The dead and majority of the injured belong to Shangla district.
Meanwhile KP Governor, Iqbal Zafar Jagra has expressed profound grief and sorrow over the incident and directed the authorities to expedite the rescue operation.
