79 militants laid down arms in North Waziristan

MIRANSHAH: As many as 79 militants including three key commanders on Friday laid down arms in North Waziristan tribal region near Afghan border.

The development took place in Miran Shah, headquarters of the North Waziristan Agency, where the Pakistan Army has been battling foreign and local militants since June 2014.

Our correspondent says the militants have decided to renounce violence and been taken into custody by the forces. According to security forces the Operation Zarb-e-Azb has achieved success in the tribal area, and now the military is consolidating its positions.
