52 terrorists killed by Sindh police in five months

KARACHI: The Sindh police claim to have killed 52 terrorists in the past five months of the current year.

A police spokesman in a statement here on Sunday said that 732 encounters took place with criminals in various districts of the province from March 01 to July 31, 2016.

The statement said that 913 alleged criminals were caught red-handed.

It further pointed out that 52 alleged terrorists, 103 alleged dacoits and five kidnappers were killed during the period.

The AIG Operations in the police performance report further claimed that 225 gangs of criminals were also eliminated.

He said that the weapons recovered from March up to July 31 this year included one anti-aircraft gun, six LMGs/G-3 rifles, 127 kalashnikovs/SMGs, 366 shot guns/repeaters, 103 MP5 /rifles, 2,681 pistols/revolvers, 23 suicide jackets, 120 hand grenades, 12 rocket launchers, 102 kg explosives and 17,983 rounds.

The statement said that the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Sindh, while reviewing the police’s performance report directed that the drive against criminals and intelligence-based operations against such elements be intensified and acquisition and exchange of information with other LEAs be made further effective.
