KARACHI: The Excise and Taxation Department has recovered 21 kg of heroin and arrested two accused.
A statement issued here on Sunday said that a team of Excise and Taxation Department Larkana, on a tip off spotted a truck on Naseerabad Wagan Road near Larkana, bearing registration No C 1722, recovered 21 kg heroin hidden in the truck and arrested two accused identified as Mahmood Ahmed and Amir Brohi.
The truck was impounded and a case has been registered against the accused. The investigation is in progress.
The statement said that Excise and Taxation inspectors Faqeer Ali Shah and Ali Gohar Sahito participated in the raid and Excise and Taxation officer Qurban Ali Shaikh supervised the raid.
In a statement issued here on Sunday the Minister for Excise and Taxation Mukesh Kumar Chawala, while lauding the efforts of raiding excise and taxation team, has announced appreciation letters for them and directed the Excise Department to intensify the drive against drug peddlers and not to spare anyone who are found involved in this heinous crime, no matter how much powerful one might be.
He said that drug is a poison to our new generation and for its eradication we all stakeholders had to work together.
