The 19th death anniversary of ex-chairman Pakistan People’s Party Shaheed Bhutto (PPP-SB) Mir Murtaza Bhutto is being observed today by PPP-SB, his relatives and lovers in Garhi Khuda Bux.
It has been 19th year to the death of Murtaza, son of late Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, an acclaimed leader in Pakistan, and younger brother of slain Benazir Bhutto, two-time prime minister of Pakistan, however his court-nominated murderers are still enjoying freedom. He was killed on 20th Sept 1996 at 70-Clifton.
Ex-chairman PPP-SB had internationally campaigned against arrest of his father and martial law imposed by general Zia-ul-Haq in 1977. He spent 16 years in exile and fought election for Sindh Assembly seat in 1993 in exile and succeeded.
Four different FIRs were registered against his murder in which ex-president Asif Ali Zardar, ex-chief minister Sindh Syed Abdullah Shah, the then DIG Shoaib Saddal, SSP Wajid Durrani, SP Shakib Qureshi, ASP Rai Tahir, ASP Shahid Hayat, police officer Shabbir Qaimkhani and Agha Tahir were convicted criminals in the cases.
