LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday dismissed a petition filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) regarding a rally at Minar-e-Pakistan.
Justice Farooq Haider of the Lahore High Court heard pti’s petition seeking permission to hold the Minar-e-Pakistan meeting on March 22. The court rejected the petition while upholding the objection of the High Court office. The court also directed the petitioner to approach the redressal committee and said that if the redressal committee does not decide, then you can approach the court.
The petitioner’s counsel argued that it was futile to approach the government’s redressal committee.
The High Court office had objected to not filing the petition before the concerned committee. The petition was filed by PTI leader Akmal Khan Bari. In the petition, it was argued that the PTI wants to hold the Minar-e-Pakistan meeting on March 22 as per the constitution and law. The administration applied for permission for the rally but no response was given.
