After cricket fans, former cricketers also questioned the inclusion of all-rounder Faheem Ashraf in the ICC Champions Trophy squad.
Former national team captain and Sultan of Swing Wasim Akram expressed his concern over the selection of all-rounder Faheem Ashraf and termed him as ‘out of blue’.
Answering the question on the all-rounder’s return to the squad in the press conference of the franchise, he said that in the first 20 matches, his bowling average is 100 and his batting average is just 9, what can be said next.
Giving his opinion on the squad selected for the Champions Trophy, he said that it is surprising to him that teams around the world have increased the number of spinners due to the pitches of the subcontinent, but Pakistan is going with Abrar Ahmed only.
On the other hand, former cricketers Tanveer Ahmed, Kamran Akmal and Basit Ali have also questioned the return of all-rounders Faheem Ashraf and Khushdil Shah, while they have supported the names of Sufyan Muqim and Aamir Jamal for bowling all-rounders.
It should be noted that national team all-rounder Faheem Ashraf played his last one-day match against traditional rival India on 11 September 2023 in the Asia Cup where Pakistan had to face the worst participation.
