The video streaming platform TikTok has been shut down in the US from today i.e. Sunday.
In a statement issued by TikTok, it is said that if President Biden does not intervene immediately on the issue of the ban, 170 million American users will be forced to stop the app service from Sunday (today).
It should be noted that two days ago, the US Supreme Court gave a decision to uphold the law banning TikTok in the US.
The news organization Associated Press said with reference to the authorities that the law banning the app will not be implemented by President Joe Biden.
Officials said the decision on TikTok’s future will be left to Donald Trump, who takes office on January 20.
The legislation passed by the US House of Representatives Congress was signed into law by President Joe Biden in April 2024.
Under the law, ByteDance, TikTok’s parent company, was asked to sell its social media app in the US by January 19 or face a ban.
Donald Trump has already expressed his desire to ‘save’ TikTok and is reportedly considering issuing an executive order to delay implementation of the law for 90 days.
