Pakistan on Thursday welcomed Gaza ceasefire deal and called for immediate and full implementation.
Just hours before the ceasefire agreement, Palestinians reported casualties in fresh Israeli strikes.
“It is hoped that the truce would lead to a permanent ceasefire and help in scaling up humanitarian assistance,” the Foreign Office said in a statement.
On Wednesday, both Israel and Hamas reached a ceasefire after months of mediation by Qatar, Egypt and the US and 15 months of bloodshed.
The deal outlines a six-week initial ceasefire with the gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip.
Meanwhile, hostages taken by Hamas would be freed in exchange for Palestinian prisoners held by Israel.
The announcement was made by Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani at a news conference in Doha.
However, Israel intensified strikes on Gaza hours after the deal was announced.
Israel’s acceptance of the deal would not be official until it is approved by the country’s security cabinet and government, Reuters reported.
