The fire in the city of Los Angeles in the US state of California has increased the fear of becoming more destructive due to strong winds.

As a result of this fire, 25 people have been killed so far while many others are missing, more than 12,000 houses and buildings have become piles of ash due to the fire. More than 200,000 people have been forced to relocate.

The US media said more than 12,000 firefighters, 1,150 fire engines, 60 aircraft and 143 water tankers are engaged in efforts to extinguish the fire, which have failed to control the blaze so far.

Media reports said that fires in 3 different locations in Los Angeles are expected to become more destructive this week due to strong winds.

Los Angeles and Ventura counties have sustained winds of up to 125 km/h, which will cause the fire to spread further as burning materials is flying in air.

On the other hand, the search for people possibly present in the debris of burnt houses and buildings is also going on.

Authorities say the fire likely started on a popular hike trail in the Palisades. Investigations are underway to find out the cause of the fire.

The deputy chief of the California Fire Department has said that “we need mercy from nature”. “We have firefighters, we have water, we just need time,” he said.
