Shehbaz congratulates nation on record remittance increase

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif while congratulating the nation on the record increase in remittances said that those who raise the slogan of jamming the wheels of the country’s economy have failed in their bid. 

According to the data of the State Bank of Pakistan, in the first half of this financial year, Pakistanis abroad sent 33 per cent more money.

It added that the overseas Pakistanis remitted $3.07 billion in December 2024 and there are 29 per cent more than December 2023.

According to the data, the highest amount of $77 million was sent from Saudi Arabia and $63 million from the United Arab Emirates. Apart from this, $450 million were sent from Britain, $360 million from Europe and $280 million from the US.

The prime minister congratulated the nation on the record increase in remittances and said that $3.1 billion of remittances have been received by December 2024, which is 5.6 per cent more than November 2024.

Remittances have increased by 29.3 per cent from December 2023 to December 2024.

He further said that this is a proof of the determination of Pakistani brothers and sisters to play a role in the development of the country and the nation. The government of Pakistan is committed to national development and public welfare.
