Trump to be sentenced today in New York hush money case

US President-elect Donald Trump will be sentenced today in the Stormy Daniels hush money case.

Earlier, the Supreme Court rejected Donald Trump’s request to suspend the proceedings by a vote of 5 to 4.

Donald Trump will be convicted of business fraud.

As a result of the court proceedings, Donald Trump will have the stigma of becoming the first criminal person to assume the presidency of the United States, but his appearance in court is not mandatory for the proceedings.

Last May, Trump was convicted on 34 counts in New York of falsifying business records concerning to payments made to Ms Daniels before the 2016 presidential election.

Prosecutors claimed that Trump had paid her $130,000 in hush money with the view not to disclose details of what Ms Daniels said was a sexual relationship in 2006.

It should be remembered that Donald Trump demanded to change the sentencing judge a few days ago, while later the newly elected president requested to delay the decision of sentencing until the swearing-in ceremony.
