Cybersecurity researchers have identified a new type of malware that can open files, record audio and screen activity, and connect to devices in a remote area to allow cyber attackers to carry out further attacks.

This malware, called Playful Ghost, is known to spread trojanized VPN software using phishing and SEO methods.

Playful Ghost Virus is capable of collecting a wide range of user data. This malware can trap the user in four ways including running registry key, scheduled task, Windows startup folder and Windows service.

It can record everything from keystrokes to screenshots and audio, installed security apps, clipboard content, system metadata, QQ account information and installed security products.

It can run malware file, erase Windows event log, clipboard data, drop additional payloads and damage cache, web browser profile, messaging app storage and profiles.
