The PTI has warned that the negotiations would collapse if judicial commission for probing the May 9, 2023 and November 26 events not formed after the third round.
This was stated by Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) chief Sahibzada Hamid Raza while speaking on a local TV show.
He said that the fourth round of talks is highly unlikely if the government does not accept our demand of judicial commission,”
After a long political war, the government and the PTI finally came to the table last month to defuse tensions.
During the second round of talks being held under the chairmanship of National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, the PTI talks team had sought frequent meetings with party founder Imran Khan with the view to finalise the charter of demands.
The PTI has been vocal about its major demands that are the release of political prisoners and a judicial probe into the events of May 9, 2023 and November 26 crackdown. However, the party could not share these demands with the government committee in writing.
Earlier, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Barrister Ali Zafar and Sher Afzal Marwat met with the former prime minister Imran Khan at Adiala Jail.
