IHC detailed verdict says Toshakhana 2 case required further inquiry

The Islamabad High Court has issued a detailed decision granting bail in the Toshakhana 2 case of PTI founder Imran Khan.

Islamabad High Court Justice Mian Gul Hasan Aurangzeb issued a detailed 14-page decision in which the court has declared the Toshakjana 2 case against the former prime minister as a case for further inquiry.

The court wrote in its decision that there is no action for not submitting the gift of Bulgari set in the Toshakhana. As per the rules, action could be taken for non-submission of gift receipt.

According to the court decision, PTI founder Imran Khan and his wife are accused of not depositing the gift of Bulgari jewelery set from the Saudi Crown Prince in the Toshakhana. Yes, criminal proceedings have been initiated against the founder of PTI and his wife for not depositing the gift in the case.  According to the prosecutor, the gift was deposited. The PTI founder and his wife violated the procedure by not depositing the gift in the case, according to the prosecutor, it was a criminal breach.

In the IHC decision, it was said that the PTI founder and his wife are also accused of reducing the price of the gift by putting pressure on it. It is alleged that the loss of Rs32.8 million to the national exchequer is due to the low price of the jewelery set.

The judgment said that according to the Toshakhana Rules of 2018, it was not necessary to submit a gift but only a receipt. It was not denied that the PTI founder submitted the receipt to the Toshakhana through the Deputy Military Secretary.
