An 87-year-old record for the number of spectators at the Melbourne Cricket Ground was broken during the Australia-India Boxing Day Test match.
According to local newspaper, an all-time new record of spectators was set during the Australia India Test match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
3 51, 104 spectators came to the first session of the fifth day of the test match between Australia and India.
Earlier in 1937, the test match played between Australia and England at Melbourne Cricket Ground was watched by 350, 34 spectators. Australia played that Test match under the captaincy of Don Bradman.
Apart from this, 90, 293 spectators came to India-Pakistan match at MCG in T20 World Cup 2022.
It should be noted that the Boxing Day Test match is popular mostly in Australia which traditionally starts on 26th December after Christmas where the host team takes on the visiting team at the historic Melbourne Cricket Ground.
