South Africa have defeated Pakistan by two wickets in first Test played at Centurion today.
The series is part of the ICC World Test Championship.
South Africa needed just 121 runs to win on the fourth day of the Boxing Day Test. Proteas achieved this target after losing 8 wickets after a thrilling contest.
Pakistan’s Mohammad Abbas bagged six wickets in the second innings.
Chasing the target of 148 runs set by Pakistan to win, Proteas started the second innings on the fourth day with 27 runs for 3 wickets.
Mohammad Abbas dismissed Tristan Stubb lbw and then bowled Adam Macram for 96 to put the host team’s hopes of victory on hold.
South Africa’s score at the lunch break was 116 for 8. Pakistan needed just two wickets to win while the Proteas needed 32 runs.
However, after the lunch break, Kagiso Rabada and Marco Jensen did not let a wicket fall and led their team to a two-wicket victory.
