Khawaja Asif finds solution to get rid of IMF

Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has said that if 50 per cent corruption is eliminated from the country, then we will not need to go to the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Speaking at the ceremony at the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce, the defence minister said that he is aware of all the problems of the industrial community. The country is going through a bad period at the moment, there is pressure from the IMF, but a light has started to be seen. Yes, all the indicators are coming positive.

Khawaja Asif said that we have gradually come out of the period of despair but there are still many hurdles to cross, there are some decisions that we cannot take due to our constraints, economic constraints are sometimes painful.

He said that no one could have imagined that the stock market is ideal. Our other indicators are also coming positive as inflation has reached single digit. At present Pakistan is facing various challenges but with time the problems will be solved, he added.

The federal minister further said that there is a huge smuggling of non-customs vehicles, adding the distinction between halal and haram has disappeared. Parvez Elahi had said that a bureaucrat got Rs4 billion in gift on the eve of his daughters’ marriage.

He said that there was a lot of corruption in the country in the previous government. He said that if 50 per cent of the corruption ends, there would be no need for the IMF.
