California in panic after strong earthquake; citizens came on roads

After the strong tremors of earthquake rocked in the US state of California, panic spread among the people, who came out of their houses.

According to the United States Seismological Center, the magnitude of the earthquake was 7, while the depth was 10 km, and the epicenter was in the southwest of California.

A tsunami warning was issued by the US authorities along with the earthquake in the coastal areas of California and southern Oregon. Later, the tsunami warning was withdrawn, but the series of aftershocks continued.

According to media reports, after the tsunami warning, a large number of people began to move to safer places, which led to traffic jams on the roads.

After the earthquake, the electricity system was partially suspended in the affected areas due to which more than 10, 000 people have been affected.

According to the US Power Outage Tracking website, 10 per cent of the 99,000 customers lost power after the earthquake in the coastal region of California.

Senator Mike McGuire of the state of California said that rescue teams have been dispatched for emergency operations, which will participate in relief activities along with local rescue personnel in the affected areas of Humboldt and Del Norte counties.
