Outgoing US President Joe Biden has announced the pardon for his son Hunter Biden in the case of buying weapons while intoxicated.

According to foreign media, Biden has granted a presidential pardon to his son, who was found guilty of buying weapons while intoxicated and tax fraud.

In June of this year, a Wilmington court acquitted Hunter Biden of three counts of making a false statement and purchasing a firearm while intoxicated in 2018.

Another charge against President Biden’s son was related to tax fraud and failure to file returns, to which Hunter Biden also pleaded guilty.

Hunter Biden had 9 charges and pleaded guilty to all charges, which the judge warned him could face up to 17 years in prison and a fine of up to $450,000.

It should be noted that the final sentence in these cases was to be announced this month (December), but President Biden announced the pardon for his son before that.

Earlier, in response to his son’s conviction, Joe Biden had said he accepts the verdict and will continue to respect the judicial process. He had said several times that he would not do so, regarding commuting or pardoning his son’s sentence.
