Hours after the PTI founder granted bail in the new Toshakhana case, the Rawalpindi police booked Imran Khan in a new case registered with the New Town police station.
Earlier, the former prime minister was granted bail by the Islamabad High Court in the new Toshakhana case.
IHC’s Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb admitted Imran Khan’s bail petition against two surety bonds worth Rs1 million each.
In a new development, a police spokesperson said that a SSP Investigation-led team of investigators of the Rawalpindi police reached the Adiala Jail and formally arrested the PTI founder.
He further said that an anti-terrorism court will hear the case at Adiala Jail.
The spokesperson added the police will pray the court to grant former prime minister’s physical remand.
A FIR was registered at the New Town police station against Imran in connection with the PTI’s protest on September 27 this year.
The latest case was filed against him over charges of inciting arson and causing damage to property under the Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) and relevant sections of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
