Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said that the Israeli president was denied permission to use Turkish airspace.
According to international media reports, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said he refused to allow the Israeli President Isaac Herzog to use his airspace to attend the Climate Action Summit in Azerbaijan.
“We didn’t allow the Israeli president to use our airspace to attend the COP summit, we suggested alternative routes and other options,” the Turkish president told reporters on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Brazil.
Israeli President Isaac Herzog canceled his visit to Azerbaijan after Turkey’s refusal.
The Israeli presidency said in a statement that ‘due to the assessment of the situation and security reasons, the president has decided to cancel his visit to Azerbaijan for the climate conference.
It should be noted that Israel started a devastating war against the Palestinian group in Gaza after the attack of Hamas a year ago. Turkey recalled its ambassador from Israel for consultation after the start of the war in Gaza. However, diplomatic relations with Israel were not severed.
