Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch has said that the media rumours cannot be responded regarding the Chinese residents in Pakistan, but Islamabad is determined to provide complete security to them and their projects.

While giving a weekly briefing at the Foreign Office, the spokesperson said that Pakistan expresses serious concerns over the detention of Kashmiri political prisoners as many of whom are being held in overcrowded jails.

Mumtaz further said that the media rumours cannot be responded regarding Chinese residents in Pakistan. We are in contact with Chinese residents regarding their protection. There are strong contacts between Pakistan and China on various issues including anti-terrorism. Any attempt to damage Pakistan-China mutual trust will not succeed, she added.

The spokesman further said that Pakistan is committed to provide complete security to Chinese residents, companies and projects and complete SOPs are being implemented in this regard. A special security force has been established in Pakistan to protect CPEC projects, she added.

On the refusal of the Indian cricket team to come to Pakistan to participate in the ICC Champions Trophy, the spokesperson said that India should not sacrifice sports for politics.

She said that only the Pakistan Cricket Board can comment on the arrival of the Indian team to Pakistan, but there is no backdoor channel for the Champions Trophy.
