Iranian has strongly denounced “a fabricated scenario” of an assassination attempt on US President-elect Donald Trump and said that the path forward begins with respect.
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi wrote this on a social media post in response to the US Justice Department’s claim that Iran backed a plot to assassinate Donald Trump just weeks before the recent presidential elections.
The foreign minister added: “The American people have made their choice and Iran respects their right to elect the president of their choice. The path forward is also a choice. It begins with respect.”
He said: “Remember the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran right after our president’s inauguration? Everyone knows who did it and why. Now, with another election, a new scenario is fabricated with the same goal.”
Araghchi said that as a murderer does not exist in reality, the scriptwriters are brought in to produce a third-rate comedy. Who can in their right mind believe that a supposed assassin sits in Iran and talks online to the FBI?!”
